Revival of activities in Karachi vital for national economic stability: President

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that revival of economic activities in the largest city of the country is must for stability of national economy adding action against terrorists would continue till complete restoration of peace.

The President said this while talking to a group of trainee officers of National School of Public Policy at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Friday.

The President said that people residing in all parts of the country enjoy equal rights adding that no discrimination will be tolerated against people in any part of the country including Balochistan. He added that one of the reasons for backwardness of the people in certain areas of the country is the wrong policies of the past leadership of that area and inept utilization of resources.

The President said that one of the reasons for economic deterioration is weak planning. He directed that a special group of economic planning should be established in the civil service for effective planning. The President also directed to set up a special group for promotion of scientific research and technology.

The President stated that in the past institutions instead of minding their own business intervened in others’ affairs which has been one of the causes for the decline of national institutions. The President stressed that by upholding moral values and working with honesty institutions can be strengthened.  He added that national interest, public welfare and corruption cannot go together. “It is for this reason that the government has expedited the accountability process”, said the President. The President directed the trainee officers to make it their objective to provide facilities and justice at the doorstep of the people.
