President Mamnoon Hussain has directed that implementation of Wafaqai Mohtasib’s report on improving the medical facilities in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) should be ensured.
The President said this while chairing a high level meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.
Minister of State for Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) Barrister Usman Ibrahim, Minister of State for National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar, Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui and senior officials were present in the meeting. On the occasion, Federal Ombudsman also presented a report to the President which carried recommendations to improve the medical standards of PIMS.
The President acknowledged that the report had been prepared with dedication and hard work which would be examined thoroughly along with other reports from concerned federal ministries and Planning Commission for transforming PIMS into a model medical facility.
The President said that in view of exceeding number of visiting patients than its capacity, an effective strategy should be evolved to provide quality medical care to all such patients at PIMS. The President hoped that the facilities of all hospitals in Islamabad including PIMS would soon improve. ‘To achieve this goal there is a need to work with dedication and responsibility,’ emphasized the President. The President stated that the government is committed to improve and provide quality medical facilities to the people adding in this regard all necessary measures would be taken.
