President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Balochistan would gain maximum benefit from the Economic Corridor adding that the nation would thwart any hurdle put in the way of this project. The President asserted that there would be no change in the route of Economic Corridor project.

The President said this while addressing the parliamentarians of Balochistan here in Quetta on Tuesday.

The President noted that positive changes were occurring in the province and law and order would soon be restored. The President emphasized the need for forging unity to address the challenges and problems confronting the country. “We have to thwart every obstacle in the way of national progress’’, remarked the President.

The President stated that Economic Corridor project would usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in the country and create immense employment opportunities. He further said that every sector of life would progress with the completion of ongoing development projects in the country including Economic Corridor.

The President stated that corruption is the biggest hurdle in the development of country and called for its elimination to attain national progress. “Every person has to play a role in the eradication of corruption from the society”, remarked the President. The President called for accountability of those who plundered the national wealth.

The President observed that it was unfortunate that no large water reservoirs were constructed adding that new water reservoir projects should have been initiated if there were any differences on any project. The present government is paying attention on this issue and electricity is being generated through different sources, remarked the President. The President said that he would talk to the Prime Minister on the matter of new water reservoirs in the province.

On the occasion, Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch, Governor Punjab, opposition leader in Balochistan Assembly Maulana Abdul Wasay, provincial ministers, members provincial assembly and senior officers of civil administration were also present.

Earlier, President Mamnoon Hussain was warmly received upon arrival at Quetta airport by Chief Minister Balochistan Abdul Malik Baloch, Senior Minister Sanaullah Zehri, provincial ministers, senior civilian and military officials.

Later, President Mamnoon Hussain left for Governor House Quetta.  The contingents of Balochistan Constabulary and police presented guard of honour to the President upon reaching the Governor House.

Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai called on President Mamnoon Hussain. The situation of law and order in the province and ongoing development projects came under discussion during the meeting.

Governor Punjab and Chief Minister Balochistan also separately called on the President.
