Nation proud of special athletes' achievements: President

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the whole nation is proud of special children over their performance and achievements in Summer Olympics.

The President said this while addressing the Prize Distribution Ceremony for winning players of Special Olympics World Summer Games, Los Angeles 2015 at Governor House, Karachi on Wednesday.

The President noted with appreciation that special children won 63 medals in nine different competitions at the Special Olympics World Summer Games and demonstrated excellent performance and physical fitness. On the occasion, the President commended the efforts of Pakistan Special Olympics Chairperson Ms. Ronaq Lakhani, coaches, officials, trainers and volunteers for training these heroes and improving their skills. The President emphasized that the government would continue patronising Special Olympics of Pakistan and its players so that, in future, special children continue to win accolades for their country in international competitions with the same commitment and hardwork.

The President hoped that if the training and dedication of special children remains the same then they would not only bring more laurels in future but also contribute in promoting the positive image of their country. The President stated that the youth of the country should seek inspiration from the exemplary achievements of the special children in Summer Olympics and endeavour to excel in their fields. The President lauded the noble efforts of the officials of Pakistan Special Olympics for making special children useful citizens of society adding that the whole nation is grateful to them for this.

On the occasion, Pakistan Special Olympics requested for a separate sports ground for the special children and also affiliation of a teaching hospital with Pakistan Special Olympics which the President assured to fulfill. The President distributed prizes amongst the special children at the end of ceremony.
