President Mamnoon Hussain has underlined the need on utilizing all available resources at the federal and provincial levels to address the challenges of protecting children rights in the country.
The President said this while talking to a delegation of Wafaqi Mohtasib’s National Committee on Children at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
The President said that challenges faced by children are daunting and our resources are limited and emphasized on mobilizing resources both at the federal and provincial levels for safeguarding the child rights. Talking about polio vaccination campaign in tribal areas, the President expressed concern over the refusal of parents in some parts of FATA to administer the polio drops to their children. The President stressed on taking effective measures for eradicating the menace of polio virus from the country particularly from FATA. We must combine our efforts to protect our children from this debilitating disease, added the President.
The President appreciated the role of Federal Ombudsman along with all Provincial Ombudsmen who have come forward with the help of UNICEF to work for child rights issues. The President directed the committee to formulate recommendations for effectively protecting the rights of children in the country and called for soliciting the opinions of Ulemas in this regard as well. The President assured of full support to the endeavors of the committee and expressed appreciation for their commitment and purposeful contribution to provide relief and comfort to millions of children in Pakistan.
