President Mamnoon Hussain conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science on President of Turkmenistan Mr. Gurbanguly Malikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov. In this connection, a Special Convocation of Quaid-e-Azam University was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday which was attended, among others, by Chief of Army Staff Gen. Raheel Sharif, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana, Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Minister of State for Communications Abdul Hakeem Baloch, Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and Board of Investment Chairman Miftah Ismail. President Mamnoon congratulated President Gurbanguly Malikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov after conferring him with the Honorary Degree.
President Gurbanguly Malikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov in his address said that conferment of Honorary Degree of Doctorate by the Quaid-e-Azam University is an honour for him for which he is thankful to the people and the government of Pakistan. President Gurbanguly Malikgulyevich Berdimuhamedov stated that friendship between Pakistan and Turkmenistan is exemplary and the two countries enjoy warm relations at the governmental and peoples’ level. He further said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan are bound together in common historical and cultural ties and the relations are further deepening which would open new prospects for prosperity in the two countries and peace and stability in the region. PresidentGurbanguly stated that his country is keen to widen relations between the educational institutions of the two countries particularly in the field of science and technology.
