President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan offers enormous opportunities for profitable investment adding foreign investors should take advantage of liberal economic policies of Pakistan.
The President said this while addressing the inaugural session of Round Table Conference under the title ‘Pakistan-Paradise for Investment’, here in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The President stated that Pakistan’s geographical location is an attraction for foreign investment with its proximity to the Gulf and oil rich economies of the Middle East as well as the landlocked Central Asian states to which it provides access to the sea for trade related activities. The President emphasized that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is of great significance for the whole region.
The President stated that Pakistan’s economy has suffered a lot because of terrorism and extremism. The President stated that Operation Zarb-e-Azb is now almost in its final stage adding that the operation has inflicted a great setback on the terrorists.
The President noted that owing to measures taken by the government the country’s foreign exchange reserves are increasing, stock market is flourishing whereas the budget deficit is decreasing. The President said that foreign investors would be provided every possible security and the international investors should take advantage of Special Economic Zones.
The President said that a significant relief has been provided to household consumers, Pakistan’s industries and businesses as the national economy is flourishing and stabilizing. He further stated that the government has initiated several new energy projects after coming into power and paid full attention towards revival of economy and elimination of terrorism. Circular debt was cleared to augment the production of electricity and new power generating projects were initiated because of which there has been gradual improvement in the situation, noted the President. The President hoped that by 2018 the problem of electricity would be overcome to a great extent.
The President observed that implementation of National Action Plan was producing positive results and overall situation in the country was improving. He added that it is the need of the hour to support the development projects initiated by the government.
The President emphasized that nations cannot progress without the values of honesty and integrity stating that corruption brings about downfall of the nations. The President stressed that everybody should play a role for eliminating the curse of corruption from the country. The President stated that the process for realization of the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal has begun.
The President expressed confidence that Pakistan would soon attain a high position in the comity of nations.
