He was speaking as chief guest at the skills competitions award ceremony at the Governor House

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that by not initiating development projects including those of electricity generation, criminal negligence was resorted to in the past. However, he was convinced that with mega projects that have been started by the present government it is certain that the problems in Pakistan would be resolved with no room for maladministration or corruption.

He was speaking as chief guest at the skills competitions award ceremony at the Governor House here on Saturday evening. The competitions were held under the auspices of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission under the Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programme. The President said that youths are precious asset of the country and the government is serious about the planning for their better future. He stated that the present government is committed for imparting meaningful education to the youngsters and provision of decent job opportunities to them.

Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that in the past there was negligence in the education and training of the youngsters and that gave rise to the tendency for extremism and militancy. He said that the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission was imparting better skills training to the youth to make them useful member of the society and enabling them to earn job and financially assist their families.

The President directed the management of the Commission to undertake planning for the training of the youth keeping in view their requirements in different fields. He said that after the completion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) there would be a lot of need for skilled youngsters and that they should be prepared for that. He was of the view that those youngsters who desire to serve abroad, their professional and skill training should be keeping such a requirement in view.

Mamnoon Hussain was glad that the Commission has also made arrangements for the guidance of the youth regarding availability of jobs. Such a service should be expanded to the district level as well so that more and more could benefit from such placement, guidance and counseling service.

Later, the president gave away awards to those youngsters who were adjudged as winners in the competitions.

Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan and chairman of the Commission Zulfiqar Ali Cheema, also expressed their view on the occasion.
